Tips on How to Find a Private Tutor

Tips on How to Find a Private TutorPrivate tutors are easily identified by their booming profession. This is because they specialize in child psychology and helping students to achieve academic success and academic growth. More parents and schools alike have been selecting private tutors as a means of nurturing their children's academic aptitude and turning them into fine and ambitious scholars. The important role that a private tutor has to play in a child's education is recognized by the fact that the students that have been recently tutored are significantly better prepared for their exams.Although some parents may opt for a public school for their child's studies, some may find that it is difficult to find a private tutor who will be willing to work at night or on weekends. If you're the parent of a child who needs help with his or her studies and you need a private tutor, there are several ways on how you can find a tutor. You should take note of these tips and you'll find out h ow you can get the best private tutor for your child. The first step in finding a private tutor is to choose the one you prefer. You should talk to the school counselor and inquire if he or she has any recommendations for a private tutor who specializes in teaching children with emotional problems. These tutors are great if you need some extra guidance in your child's academic progress. The most common form of these tutors are those who have degrees in child psychology. Tutors who teach children with emotional problems are usually highly skilled in their field. They know all the issues that arise in your child's education and they also have special training in dealing with children with emotional problems. They know the different behavior patterns that have been caused by various conditions and problems like anxiety, depression, poor sleeping patterns, difficulty in learning, etc.To start with, these tutors are mostly looking for academic growth and achievement. The very reason they c ame to this field was to assist students with behavioral problems and issues in school. Hence, they make a very good and effective private tutor if they have been properly trained to handle children with emotional and psychological problems. Some top names in the field include Dr. Melvin Morse and Dr. David Gilden. You can find many others as well in various online forums and chat rooms. The internet is a wonderful source of information and in doing so, you can find the very best of private tutors online. If you're one of those people who are a bit skeptical when it comes to online tutoring, you may want to consider hiring a private tutor before sending your child to a public school. After you've decided that a private tutor is the best option for your child, the next step is to find the one that fits your budget. You can find good quality private tutors in any city but you'll be able to find them at lower prices in smaller cities. For instance, if you're in the city of Atlanta, you'l l have a harder time finding a quality private tutor in a big city like New York. When you've found the right private tutor for your child, you'll find that he or she will quickly make a difference in your child's academic growth and achievement. Their superior performance will most likely turn you into an expert in dealing with your child's emotional and psychological problems and will increase your own child's social skills as well.

What Does it Take to Become a Session Musician

What Does it Take to Become a Session Musician Suzy S. Want to earn money playing and performing music? Set yourself up on the path to success with these career tips from Corona, CA music teacher  Milton J. Many aspiring musicians dream of being discovered and becoming the next best superstar. However, many others must also face the music that there is a certain amount of luck and chance in getting that seven-figure record deal. In lieu of sitting, waiting, and wishing for that big break, creating smaller breaks for yourself could make that eventual discovery much easier for AR representatives and record executives, not to mention creating a source of income for yourself in the industry you love. Some of your interests may include songwriting, producing, band leading, or being a creative manager of a music project. These roles often define the dynamics of a band or production, and can help you achieve your eventual goal of sustained financial gains and fame. They also own the most profitable portions of the music industry copyrighted songs and publishing and performance royalties. Yes, that means the person who writes the lyrics and the melodies can potentially earn just as much or more than the artist who sings and performs it. If you have an interest in instrumental or supportive work in a band as opposed to or in conjunction with songwriting, session musicianship would be a perfect launching pad for you. Musicians who choose to engage in session musicianship work with lots of different people, which makes for a successful career by sharing technical and musical expertise with many walks of life in the music industry. In order to do this successfully, you need to build yourself a good reputation and network constantly to create as many connections as possible. If this appeals to your twinkling piano or guitar fingers or tickles your vocal cords, here are some helpful tips on readying yourself to be a successful session musician! Be Technically Proficient Whether for recordings or live gigs, you need to be able to get it right, and fast! Sight reading or the ability to pick up songs by ear are very useful in this case (that means private music lessons with your local TakeLessons teacher are a must!). Be Stylistically Versatile Being able to play in multiple genres of music will increase your possible session gigs, which will lead to more opportunities and financial gains! Be a Diplomat Give your opinion if someone asks for it, but don’t overstep your boundaries, as you’re there to help fulfill a vision. Be Picky To begin, accepting session gigs from anyone from various genres will help to build your name and enhance your session workshop aptitude, but after a while you should focus on choosing bands that are professional and give you an element of security in terms of work, tours, earnings, and payouts or shares of future royalties. Be Flexible With Your Time and Money You have to be prepared to be away for an extended period of time at the drop of a hat if youre asked to go on tour with an artist. Also, sometimes you may have a downturn in potential session gigs, and you’ll need to be financially prudent. Prepare yourself for these possibilities with your housing, bills, and finances. Become a Multi-Instrumentalist Being able to play multiple instruments (I personally play guitar and piano in addition to vocals) gives you more opportunities to help out and fill in with various roles, which can both set you apart from other session musicians and lead to increased pay. Know Your Gear Being knowledgable about â€" as well as owning your own â€"  equipment is important. It makes everything easier if you show up ready to go with all your gear, and you know what to do with it to help provide the sound the lead artist is looking for. Know Your Rights Make sure you have clear and written-consented agreements on recordings about any royalty entitlements. Frequent a Place With a Thriving Music Scene Although the Internet surely helps to solve this problem to an extent, it’s a good idea to frequent an area where you know and work with the local music scene and/or touring acts, which could lead to more work opportunities and good honest connections. Identify With Your Music This will make your career much more fulfilling, and will show the best and most expressive side of your musicality. Isnt this what its all about? If this sounds like something you would like to pursue, then the world is truly your oyster. Time is of the essence to channel your love for music into your job! How Long Does It Take To Become An Accountant

How Long Does It Take To Become An Accountant How Long Does It Take To Train As An Accountant? ChaptersFollowing the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) CoursesFollowing The ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) CoursesFollowing The ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) CoursesFollowing  The CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) CoursesIf you have a natural affinity with numbers, are quick to identify patterns and love to solve problems, maybe you should consider becoming an accountant. Most people, when thinking about an accountant's work, think about middle age men with tiny spectacles, crunching numbers all day long on an antiquated calculator and filing tax reports all year long. While this stereotype may endure for a while longer, it could not be further from the truth. In today's business world, accountants  are  closer to consultants than they are to bookkeepers. It is true that bookkeeping remains a part of the job description, but it only accounts for a fraction of what accounting firm do (and bill big com panies for). The development of accounting softwares has made it easy to perform regular bookkeeping tasks: issuing invoices, tracking payments and costs and so on. This meant that the accountant effectively spent less time crunching numbers and had more time to analyse the performance of a company and potentially find ways to make it financially more stable and efficient. The most prominent accounting firm in the world, Deloitte Ltd., counts more than 285,000 employees spread over all continents and generated more than $43 billion for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. It has seen an increase in revenue for the past nine years and, as the biggest of the Big Four accounting firm, showed that skilled accountants are in very high demand. If you are entertaining the idea of becoming an accountant you probably want to know what you're getting into and how long it will take until your harvest the rewards of your hard work. Let's look at how long it would take you to become a Certified Accountant.Ol d fashioned bookkeeping was done with pen and paper but has since been replaced with accounting software. (UK or International).Because all ACCA modules need to be sat in order and since you can not take more than four exams per sitting it means that in practice, it will take you three to four years to become an ACCA Chartered Accountant. It used to be that you had ten years to complete all your exams but this rule recently changed as the ACCA found that Accounting laws, procedures and regulations were changing too much in that ten year period. Today you have seven years from the first exam you sit to take and pass all the required tests, failing to do so will mean that all the reviews you sat will be invalidated. As an accountant you will face figures on your screen all day long, do not forget to take a screen-break from time to time.Following The ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) CoursesThe ICAEW has been training accountants for more than a century and a half. It counts no less than 150,000 members and 80% of the  Financial Times-Stock Exchange 100 have an ICAEW accountant on their Finance Board. You don't necessarily need a university degree to start the ACA, and some students begin their Association of Chartered Accountant (ACA) training right after secondary school. The certification requires that you pass 15 modules over three different levelsThe Certificate Level is an introduction to the basics of accountancy, finance and business. You will also learn about assurance, law and taxation. The exams can be taken on a computer at any time (but unlike the ACCA, these are time-limited).Once all the modules completed, you will obtain a first certificate,  the ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business, which is recognised as a stand-alone qualification. The Professional Level includes the six more modules revolving around Business Planning, Taxation, Banking and Insurance. Finally, the Advanced Level constitutes the last ste p before being rewarded with the ACA.  Corporate Reporting and Strategic Business Management are at the centre of this level and will teach students to make strategic decisions based on real-life scenarios. The whole qualification takes three to five years to complete, but for any ACA qualification, you will need to find an  ICAEW authorised training employe and sign a training contract with them.Following  The CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) CoursesThe CIMA was created in 1919 when the needs for a new kind of accounting was felt in the business world. For almost a hundred years, this institute has been focused on training Management Accountant, who focus on handling a company's budget, taxes, strategic planning and financial security.Like the previous accounting qualifications, the CIMA is divided into three different levels: Operational, Management and Strategic. The operational level covers the implementation of a strategy, as well as reporting on the implementa tion of the strategy. The management level has a medium-term focus. It translates the strategy decided at higher levels and communicated it to lower levels for implementation. It monitors and reports on the implementation of a strategy, and ensures corrective action is taken when required. The strategic level has a long-term focus. It concentrates on making strategic decisions and providing the context in which those decisions will be implemented. This qualification is also divided into three pillars covering nine different subjects. The Enterprise Pillar deals with the formulation of strategy, as well as its effective implementation. It emphasises how change management, project management, relationship management and the structuring of organisations can help to successfully implement a  strategy. The Performance Pillar uses the tools and techniques of management accounting and risk management to ensure that a  strategy is realistic and to monitor its implementation. It shows students ho w to use their understanding of costs to construct budgets, make decisions about prices and capital  expenditure, manage costs and manage performance. It develops the ability of students to progressively identify, classify, evaluate and manage risk. The Financial Pillar focuses on the financial accounting and reporting obligations of a company. This includes an understanding of the regulatory framework and external reporting requirements, and the ability to construct and evaluate complex financial statements to show the  financial position and performance of any commercial organisation. The  fundamentals of business tax are covered, as are the tax implications of financing decisions. In total it will take you three to four years to become a Chartered Management Accountant.Analysing financial report and understand the profitability of a potential investment is a key responsibility of Chief Financial Officers. All those accounting training are similar and take  roughly three years, but y our choice should be based on the kind of accountant you would like to become, as some of these qualifications lead more easily to certain specialities than others. You may also count on shortening your study time with guidance from accounting tutors...

The 25 Best Karaoke Songs for Women

The 25 Best Karaoke Songs for Women Elaina R. Want to be the star of your next karaoke night? Weve got you covered.  In this article, voice teacher  Elaina R.  shares 25 recommendations of karaoke songs for women. Have you ever noticed that guys like Bruno Mars, Sam Smith, and Adam Levine sing so high that barely any other guys can hit the same notes? What about the fact that female artists like Sia, Ariana Grande, and Katy Perry leave women in the same painful situation? You aren’t imagining things; the popular music industry has been overrun by high voices ever since pop was invented. Its nearly impossible for normal people (without digital enhancement) to sing lots of popular songs. In fact, many of the original singers of these songs can’t reliably belt out those high notes night after night â€" it just isn’t healthy. This is why if you’re a female vocalist, instead of attempting to screech out Chandelier at your next karaoke session, you might want to consider sticking with Justin Bieber instead. Keep reading to find out more. Why Songs by Guys Make Great Female Karaoke Songs In my experience, the average woman can belt up to about a G4 or an A4 before things start getting uncomfortable (if I just lost you, check out this article  on voice types). Im a professional singer and I can only comfortably belt up to a C#5 or D5. In contrast, here are a few of the belted high notes in some popular songs with female singers: Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off  (D5) Katy Perry’s Firework  (D#5) Sia’s Chandelier  (F5) Ariana Grande’s Problem  (G#5) These notes are a fifth to an octave above what most women are capable of belting. Theyre so high in fact, that a trained singer like me  can’t belt most of them! Its physically impossible  for most women to sing these songs without straining their vocal cords or flipping up into head voice. Now let’s take a look at some of the high belted notes in popular songs by male artists. OMI’s Cheerleader  (E4) Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean  (F4) Walk The Moon’s Shut Up and Dance  (G#4) Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk  (D5) Aside from the Bruno Mars song, all of those have belted high notes that most women can comfortably handle. And although you might expect the songs to go too low for women, they usually don’t. The lowest note in the four songs listed above is a momentary C#3 in Shut Up and Dance. Some women can sing down there, but if you can’t, it’s easy enough to substitute a higher note that fits in the chord (one safe tactic is to simply stay on the previous note). Have I convinced you? If so, consider some of these hits next time you go to a karaoke bar. 25 Karaoke Songs for Women (Originally By Guys) 1. The Lazy Song â€" Bruno Mars 2. Forget You â€" Cee Lo Green 3. Photograph â€" Ed Sheeran 4. Trap Queen â€" Fetty Wap 5. Firestone â€" Kygo  ft. Conrad Sewell 6. Hold Back the River â€" James Bay 7. Let It Go â€" James Bay 8. Want To Want Me â€" Jason Derulo 9. Don’t Stop Believing â€" Journey 10. Love Yourself â€" Justin Bieber 11. Years Years â€" King 12. Are You With Me â€" Lost Frequencies 13. Sweet Home Alabama â€" Lynyrd Skynyrd 14. Sugar â€" Maroon 5 15. Billie Jean â€" Michael Jackson 16. Thriller â€" Michael Jackson 17. Avicii â€" The Nights 18. Cheerleader â€" OMI 19. Hey Ya â€" OutKast 20. Happy â€" Pharell Williams 21. I’m Not The Only One â€" Sam Smith 22. Stay With Me â€" Sam Smith 23. See You Again â€" Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth 24. Can’t Feel My Face â€" The Weeknd 25. Earned It â€" The Weeknd If youve tried any of these hits at a recent karaoke night, leave a comment below and let us know how it went. 6 Broadway Belting Audition Songs to Knock Em Dead

6 Broadway Belting Audition Songs to Knock Em Dead Sign up successful 1. Johnny One Note  Babes in Arms Made popular by the great Judy Garland, this number will have  you belting several big B flats with gusto! This 1937 show tune is a solid classic to choose if you’re auditioning for an older show. Its also a great choice for teen belters with a good middle voice; it provides enough of a challenge without too much of a chance to strain the voice, as it doesn’t sit too high. Consider this a nice intro to belting! 2. Wherever He Ain’t  Mack and Mabel What a showstopper! Although Jerry Herman’s “Mack and Mabel” was not a hit, critics agree the music is sublime, and this is no exception! This sassy number requires you to sing some high notes,  so it’s best for an advanced adult belter with more secure technique. 3. City Lights  The Act Kander and Ebb wrote “The Act” for another legendary belter: Ms. Liza Minnelli! But don’t worry: you can make this one your own    and you should. This song sits lower, so range-wise it’s not difficult. But it  runs  for six  minutes, so if youre singing it for an audition, make sure you perform the cut that shows you off best! Its also  ideal for a dancer who  belts. After all, these ARE the composers of “Chicago”! Not only will you be showing off your belting chops, but you’re expected to bring it as far as showmanship, too! Related Video: How to Choose the Best Broadway Songs for Your Voice 4. All Falls Down  Chaplin Ooh, this is a GREAT new one  yes, from another flop musical. What makes this Broadway song so great?  It’s completely sassy and has a memorable “cakewalk” style. You get to belt this one full out; it’s probably the most challenging number on this list, as you need to belt pretty high… again and again. So this one is for the advanced belters only! 5. I’m The Greatest Star  Funny Girl It’s been said “People” should be  off-limits, as it belongs to Barbra (and I’ll have to agree with that!), but as far as I’m concerned, singers should feel free to use the REST of the great songs in “Funny Girl”! The big belting doesn’t really come until the end of this song, so I’d say this is more for the intermediate belter. The bulk of the song lies in mid-voice and is meant to be sung with TONS of conviction… and serious comedic chops! 6. Live Out Loud  A Little Princess This is for younger belters! Its  a wonderful, uplifting tune that is sure to wow. Its also very good for those who have more of a soprano-ish quality to their voice. (Soprano/belt is definitely a voice type! Lucky ladies like the fabulous Sierra Boggess in the  video below are proof they exist.) The melody is gorgeous and quick-moving, and it’s just under three  minutes. Choosing Belting Songs for Auditions Before you choose one of these songs, remember that belting is a specific vocal skill that doesn’t come easily to most of us. It’s super easy to hurt yourself if you do it incorrectly. The last thing you want is to strain  your voice! Some voice teachers specialize in the technique, so make sure you’re working with someone who  can help you achieve the sound you’re after! TakeLessons has many talented instructors who  can help you achieve your belting goals. Good luck at your audition! Post Author:  Molly R. SAT and ACT Success for Students with ADHD

SAT and ACT Success for Students with ADHD For high school students the school year may just be starting, but its never too soon to start planning for college admissions tests like the SAT and ACT. Standardized tests are challenging for most students, and even more so for teens with ADHD. With ADHD it can be difficult to complete timed tests, avoid careless mistakes, and keep calm in stressful conditions. So, its especially important to support your teen by putting a standardized test plan into place as soon as possible. Register on Time If you have a teenager with ADHD you know by now that completing tedious, multi-step tasks and meeting deadlines are not their forte. While its important for all teens to gain independence during high school, resist using the SAT or ACT sign-up process to teach a life lesson. Take some of the burden off of your teen by learning about the deadlines and taking the lead in the sign-up process. This will reduce stress and will allow your teen to focus their energy on studying for the exam. Request Accommodations Students with ADHD are often eligible to receive testing accommodations on standardized tests. These accommodations are intended to help students demonstrate their knowledge to the best of their ability while minimizing the problems caused by their ADHD symptoms. This may mean receiving extended time on exams to account for the slower pace at which students with ADHD complete academic work, taking the exam in a private room to minimize distractions, or using a calculator to help offset a propensity to make careless mistakes. The SAT and ACT have stringent criteria for the documentation required to qualify for accommodations. These requirements typically include a thorough psychoeducational evaluation that was completed within the last 5 years. Getting a psychoeducational evaluation scheduled and completed takes time usually a few months so plan ahead. Once you have the documentation that you need, it takes at least a few weeks for SAT and ACT representatives to review your accommodations request. So, submit your documentation early. For more information about the specific documentation requirements, see the College Board (SAT and PSAT) and ACT, Inc. websites. Your teens school guidance counselor or special education coordinator can also be an excellent resource. They should have a great deal of experience helping students submit documentation and request accommodations. Enroll Your Teen in a Test Prep Program Studying for the SAT and ACT involves doing just the type of tedious academic work teens with ADHD often struggle with the most. A test prep program that provides structure, social support from teachers and peers, and accountability will go a long way in helping your teen stay on track with a study plan. Look for a test prep program with teachers who have experience working with ADHD students. Help your teen stay motivated by planning out rewards that they can earn as they study. Tie the rewards to the things they can truly control, like the amount of time they spend studying and the number of test prep study sections they complete. Avoid tying rewards to scores on practice tests or the actual exam. Help your teen identify a reward they can earn at least once a week, or if necessary, more immediate rewards that they can earn after each study session. This will help them stay motivated in the moment as they work toward their long-term goal. By being a partner in the SAT and ACT prep process youll help your teen reach their full potential on these exams. Just remember to start the planning process early, request accommodations if you think they will be helpful, and find a test prep program with teachers who know how to work with students who have ADHD. The investment you make now will help set your teen up for success on their college applications. ABOUT DR. Storytelling at the World Bank

Storytelling at the World Bank Many ESL teachers feel that argumentation skills are essential for academic and workplace success. Essay-writing remains at the heart of every college ESL course and Business English course. There are good reasons to question the over-emphasis on 5-paragraph essay writing  and to reintroduce narrative writing into English Second Language courses. In Storytelling in Organizations, Stephen Denning (2005) tells how he was tasked with the job of transforming the World Bank from a lender to a world leader in Knowledge Management. He met a lot of resistance to change and saw 5 years of work about to be undone by adverse opinion. Report after report, presentation after presentation led to fewer and fewer people understanding Knowledge Management and it was becoming fashionable to criticize it at the watercooler. Nobody, it seemed, was persuaded by his well-supported arguments, charts, graphs, and bullet points for compiling the World Bank’s considerable economic development knowledge and sharing it with stakeholders. In a last-ditch effort, Denning decided to try a new strategy at a lunchtime meeting for vice-presidents in 1999. He told the Madagascar Story. Madagascar had wanted to implement a Good and Services Tax and needed to know whether to include medicine in the tax, so Madagascar asked the World Bank for its official position. That just set off a storm of controversy within the organization. The new Knowledge Management protocol that Denning was proposing called for an email to branch offices and universities in order to compile experiences with the question of GST on medicine around the globe. Amongst all the furor about the official position back at head office, an email was sent out to branch offices and experts around the world. Shortly after, the replies that came back indicated that in most cases excluding medicine from the GST worked best. Those stories were compiled and sent to Madagascar. Meanwhile, head-office was still deep in a debate about what to tell Madagascar was the World Bank’s official position, but Madagascar had the answer it needed. The stories of the GST experwritingiments in their individual contexts ar ound the world allowed Madagascar to decide for itself what to do without having to be told the World Bank’s official opinion. The Madagascar Story gave the vice-presidents at the lunchtime meeting the success story they needed to get behind Knowledge Management. They went back to their various departments, repeated the story, and the negative talk stopped. A single narrative had achieved what years of argument had failed to do. Please follow and like us:
